Datasets and Resources

As a Social Science graduate and a faculty member, I feel the challenges of locating quantitative datasets that can be useful for aspiring and interested students. So I have compiled a list of publicly available quantitative datasets from different sources and their access links. These datasets can be helpful for you. 

World Value Survey Dataset: The World Values Survey is a global research project that explores people's values and beliefs, how they change over time, and what social and political impact they have. Since 1981, a worldwide network of social scientists has conducted representative national surveys as part of WVS in almost 100 countries. General Social Survey Dataset: The General Social Survey (GSS) is a sociological survey created in 1972 by James A. Davis of the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago and funded by the National Science Foundation. The GSS collects information biannually and keeps a historical record of the concerns, experiences, attitudes, and practices of residents of the United States. International Social Survey Program Dataset: The International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) is a collaboration between different nations conducting surveys covering topics that are useful for social science research. The ISSP researchers develop questions that are meaningful and relevant to all countries, which can be expressed in an equal manner in different languages. The results of the surveys provide a cross-national and cross-cultural perspective to individual national studies. By 2021, 58 countries have already taken part in the ISSP. The Asia Barometer Survey Dataset: The Asian Barometer Survey is a comparative survey of 18 Asian states and territories. These include Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.. The Afrobarometer Survey Dataset: The Afrobarometer is a pan-African, independent, non-partisan research network that measures public attitudes on economic, political, and social matters in Africa.  Its secretariat headquarters are in Accra, Ghana, registered as a limited company by guarantee by the Registrar-General’s Department of the Republic of Ghana. The Arab Barometer Survey Dataset: The Arab Barometer is a nonpartisan research network that provides insight into the social, political, and economic attitudes and values of ordinary citizens across the Arab world.
